Joanne Pearson, Vice President for the Region of the Americas introduced Hazel Forsythe at the AAFCS Annual Meetings in Phoenix in June 2011. Hazel has joined the group to discuss the “Partnership for Home Economics Disaster Relief to Developing Countries” project. Hazel serves on the Caribbean Association of Home Economist (CAHE) Board as they proceed to set up an organization to work with this project.  CAHE has named their fund in honor of Jean Edwards from Antigua, a longtime CAHE leader, and have started the fund with some seed money from IHES trustees.  It was emphasized that the purpose of the Partnerships Project is to support home economics programs to repair and replace items that were destroyed by disaster and not to provide emergency relief as many other relief groups are already doing that.
